Programming is a lot like the Doors of Durin. You and your colleagues spend all day wondering wtf “Speak, friend, and enter” means, then you figure it out and it was totally obvious, everyone has a laugh, and you enter the Mines of Moria.

Then you find out your buddy’s cousin isn’t going to greet you, and instead you’re in a dead legacy ruin and then you have a zillion orcs and also a balrog.
